What is a Clinical Trial?

Clinical trials are medical research studies that aim to improve scientists’ understanding of new and existing medications. This is done by carefully monitoring and controlling the medications’ effects and side-effects. Clinical trials are critical to optimizing the safety and efficacy of medications available on the market today and in the future.

Reasons to Participate

While participation in research trials is always completely voluntary, your involvement will help doctors learn more about your condition. With increased knowledge of a disease comes new and improved medications to improve future treatment opportunities.

What to Expect

First, a consultation visit to assess eligibility and ensure your interest in participation. Participation will include taking a medication on a daily basis and regular site study visits. Study visits consist of psychiatric and physical evaluations, along with vital assessments such as EKG, blood pressure, and laboratory tests. Medication and care related to research will not be charged. Participants will be compensated for their time and travel.
